Positano's Hotel Palazzo Murat is the result of the careful restoration of an old patrician town house, built in 18th century Neapolitan baroque style.
Rooms in both old and new wings of the building are adorned with antiques dating back to the period when the palazzo was the sumptuous home of Gioacchino Murat, brother-in-law of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Palazzo Murat's deluxe bedrooms, located in the oldest part of the hotel are, perhaps, the most romantic; featuring magnificent canopied beds and balconies from where to observe charming views of the historic center, the sea, and the dome of Positano's cathedral.
A breakfast of traditional pastries, baked by the hotel's pastry chef, is served on Palazzo Murat's courtyard patio each morning. The patio also functions as delightful open air dining room for the hotel's 'Al Palazzo' restaurant and as intimate venue for a series of classical concerts, held here each summer.
Positano's 'spiaggia grande' beach and the sea lie within easy walking distance of the hotel. As an added bonus, during their stay guests are offered a complimentary excursion along the Amalfi Coast in Hotel Palazzo Murat's traditional 'gozzo' boat.
