Santa Caterina Amalfi

Hotel Santa Caterina is located on the incredibly scenic Amalfi Coast, just moments from the town of Amalfi. The hotel sits at the summit of a fabulous property which, from the coastal road cascades down to the sea edge over a series of natural terraces.

This marvellous resort, originally built in 1880 by Giuseppe Gambardella and subsequently redesigned by his son, Crescenzo, in 1904, is still managed by members of the family. The hotel has 62 fabulous light-filled rooms and suites all furnished with antique furniture from the family's collection, and hand painted Vietri ceramic floor tiles. Each room has a balcony overlooking the Amalfi Coast. A large number of rooms also have a terrace or garden.

The suites of the Hotel Santa Caterina have acquired world wide fame, suites such as the cliff top chalet "Romeo and Juliet" and the "Follia Amalfitana" the latter built amidst the sweet smelling citrus trees.

Hotel Santa Caterina has two highly acclaimed restaurants. Supremely elegant interiors featuring enormous windows overlooking the Mediterranean sea and fabulous lapislazzuli blue tile floors greet diners entering the hotel's main restaurant. The cuisine is, quite simply, with delectable dishes such as tagliolini pasta with lemon sauce, sautéed aubergine with baked ricotta, shellfish and peperoni ravioli with cherry tomato sauce. The Restaurant Al Mare, situated above the swimming pool of the hotel's "Beach Club" serves the freshest fish and delicious pizzas cooked in a traditional wood oven.

Hotel Santa Caterina offers guests superb wellness facilities including a small spa. The center is equipped with Turkish Bath, Sauna and Scottish Shower. Highly qualified staff perform a range of massages, facial and full body treatments.

The hotel's function rooms provide exclusive venues for top level events. The "Veranda", with sea view verandas on two sides of the room, has a seating capacity for up to 70 participants. The smaller "Bougainville" has a balcony overlooking the sea and seats 20.

Hotel Santa Caterina is situated a mere seven hundred meters from the historic center of the town of Amalfi which, together with Positano and Ravello, is considered to be one of the most beautiful destinations along the Amalfi Coast. From here, Herculaneum, Pompei, Sorrento and Naples are all within easy driving distance.

Amalfi and the Hotel Santa Caterina can be reached by car by following the A3 motorway in the direction of Salerno and exiting at Vietri sul Mare, from where to follow indications to Amalfi and the Amalfi Coast. Naples Capodichino is the closest airport. The nearest railway station is that of Salerno (25km).
