The story will begin in Nerano, a fraction of Massa Lubrense, very close to Sorrento where tourists should get to the foot of Mount San Costanzo, the same mountain which prevents the sun to shine over the village early in the afternoon so that the evening hours remain cool.
The hospitable Villarena Relais with its wonderful stone arcades, Moorish patio and genuine old-style orchards, has a 19th century atmosphere.
It was built in the 17th century around a pre-existing late medieval construction when the surrounding area was mostly used for the cultivation of lemons. It later became an exclusive residence for various noble families and, for a few decades, a nunnery. Memories of past centuries can be seen in the high vaulted ceilings, the original colors, the decorative stone arches, and the view of the bay from each room, which delights the soul and body.
