Relais Villarena

Take the chance to start a trip in an enchanting atmosphere in the heart of one of the most well-known landscapes of the earth, Nerano in Sorrento Coast, where laying on the hill at only 900 metres from sea level you reach an historical dwelling from an ancient mule track. Amidst stone arches you reach a Morisco patio where the modern tendency of biological agriculture meets the elegant XIX century Relais Villarena. Guglielmo the actual owner will give you his warm welcome to his house introducing you to your apartment while explaining the history of the place. The story will begin in Nerano, a fraction of Massa Lubrense, very close to Sorrento where tourists should get to the foot of Mount San Costanzo, the same mountain which prevents the sun to shine over the village early in the afternoon so that the evening hours remain cool.

The hospitable Villarena Relais with its wonderful stone arcades, Moorish patio and genuine old-style orchards, has a 19th century atmosphere.
It was built in the 17th century around a pre-existing late medieval construction when the surrounding area was mostly used for the cultivation of lemons. It later became an exclusive residence for various noble families and, for a few decades, a nunnery. Memories of past centuries can be seen in the high vaulted ceilings, the original colors, the decorative stone arches, and the view of the bay from each room, which delights the soul and body.

Whoever stays at the Villarena Relais which, in the best tradition of Italian hospitality, offers a warm and friendly welcome to all, can enjoy an enchanting panorama where everything, in addition to the scent of lemons and a sea of intense blue, speaks of history, passion and culture.
